STEYN CITY | GAUTENG | SOUTH AFRICA

Conceived as a composition of light, space, and privacy, this three-storey residence extends across its full site, creating a series of interconnected pavilions and landscaped courtyards. The architecture is sculpted in white plaster and concrete planes, softened with vegetation and framed by carefully detailed screens. A sequence of glazed courtyards draws natural light and greenery deep into the home, transforming circulation into a spatial experience. Flat concrete roofs double as accessible terraces, offering new vantage points across the estate and turning every level into a living surface. A single linear gallery connects two distinct wings: the first, semi-private and functional with entrance, garages, and studies; the second, set deeper into the site, becomes more intimate — a world of bedrooms and entertainment spaces. Privacy is paramount. From the street, the residence presents itself as a veiled form. Laser-cut aluminium screens slide open to reveal an arrival courtyard, guiding the visitor towards the main entrance and feature garage. With screens closed, the house withdraws completely, hidden from view, a private retreat within the city. This design reflects a balance between openness and seclusion — a crafted architectural response that is at once bold in form and delicate in detail.
