STEYN CITY | GAUTENG | SOUTH AFRICA

This contemporary H-shaped home, located in Steyn City, Gauteng, is carefully designed to showcase its understated elegance and ensure privacy from the street front.
Viewed from the opposite side, one’s eye is caught by the large open-plan layout and double-volume living areas that offer views of the golf course and landscaped surroundings.
Expansive double-volume glazing extends from the entertainment area onto the golf course and back into a planted courtyard garden, blurring the lines between indoor and outdoor living.
The open, double-volume entertainment area features a floating bridge that connects two volumes. The master bedroom, positioned on one side, is designed to capture natural light and warmth from the north while maintaining privacy.
A secondary wing of the house, situated on a half-level lower, creates privacy between other rooms and the main entertainment area.
Internally, the palette plays with contrasting elements, combining moody, dark tones with sleek white and off-shutter walls to create a dramatic aesthetic. Black design features such as steel beams, joinery, and sanitary fittings are elegantly offset by timber doors, seating nooks, and floating shelves. Abundant natural light floods the interiors, uplifting the space with a tranquil atmosphere.
With sustainable living principles in mind, a range of green technologies has been integrated. From solar geysers to battery backup systems and water harvesting solutions, these environmentally friendly features are discreetly incorporated, minimizing the home’s environmental impact while ensuring modern comforts for the owners.
