PINNACLE POINT | MOSSEL BAY | GARDEN ROUTE | SOUTH AFRICA

This contemporary coastal home, featured in SA Homeowners magazine, was conceived with a single idea: to seamlessly integrate an aircraft into the top-floor Sky bar entertainment area, creating a striking focal point visible from the intersecting roads bordering the exclusive Pinnacle Point Estate in Mossel Bay, South Africa.
The design concept for the aircraft display resembles a high-end showroom featuring extensive frameless glass panels, steel framework, concealed LED lighting, and exposed concrete elements. The cantilevered structure hovers above the landscape, becoming an iconic feature of the estate.
Understanding Pinnacle Point’s reputation for strong winds, the house is designed around an enclosed inner courtyard, serving as a recreation and entertainment space. As the central hub of activity, this courtyard hosts an array of amenities tailored to the clients’ specific needs.
Within this sheltered space, the double-volume living, dining, and kitchen spaces converge, blending with the top-floor Sky bar and aircraft display room. This spatial arrangement contributes to visual continuity, enriching the experience of indoor and outdoor living.
Facing the golf course, a large, raised lap pool features panoramic ocean views. Enclosed by frameless glass panels, the outer walls offer protection from prevailing winds without compromising the views. Thanks to a solar heat pump, the pool maintains an ideal swimming temperature throughout the year, ensuring comfort regardless of the season.
The internal and external materials are selected to create an atmosphere of sophistication, characterized by a palette of moody tones such as black, charcoal, and dark timber. Rich textures and bespoke materials such as grey marble tiles, charcoal perforated aluminium screens, off-shutter walls, and timber slat pergolas add depth and visual interest to the architecture.
The home design implements sustainable living systems through the integration of green technology. From efficient gas geysers to solar panels, battery backup systems, and water harvesting solutions, environmentally sensitive features are incorporated into the design, discreetly tucked away from sight. The implementation of these green technologies reduces environmental impact and enhances the long-term resilience of the home.
